Description
Very decorative wooden lacquered (urushi) hibachi from the 19th century.
The hibachi was a heating element that contained ashes and glowing coals.
The dark/black lacquer on the outside is decorated with small amounts of contrasting red lacquer, brushed horizontally to achieve a blurred effect (= Negoro technique).
This hibachi has a copper removable lining.
Dimensions: height 26 cm, diameter 27.5 cm.
