Description
These beautiful bookends are handmade in the finest quality. The wood art tradition from Thuringia has a long history, from which many beautiful and unique works of art have originated. Already around 1780, carving was a verifiable trade in the town. Today’s coat of arms quotes this craft with a horse as motive. Around 1790 a very close cooperation with Ruhla entrepreneurs who were involved in the production of tobacco pipes developed. At first, only handcrafted pipe bowls were made to order; later, the carving of whip sticks, baking and butter models and nativity figures were added. Carving now developed into a arts and crafts activity.
