Description

Iconic and elegant magazine rack in the modernist style; it consists of a thick sheet of curved smoked crystal inserted in an inverted position on a curved brass Stand creating a uniform, aesthetically simple but very refined whole. After careful research, we can attribute the magazine rack with absolute certainty to the Pierangelo Gallotti design, and exactly his “Lira L1” model, made between 1975 and 1980 by the Gallotti & Radice firm in Milan (Italy). Pierangelo Gallotti founded, together with Luigi Radice, the company Gallotti & Radice. This brand was founded in 1955 in Brianza, Italy, and specialized in the production of stained glass, mirrors, and lamps/lamps. Gallotti & Radice was the first company in Italy to experiment and promote, since the 1950s, a love for the study and use of an extraordinary material in the furniture sector: crystal. Used in its purity and elegance, but above all combined in a unique and wise way with other materials such as wood and metal, crystal stands out as a discreet and strong protagonist in the G&R collection. Fundamental since 1970 has been the collaboration with established designers such as Luigi Massoni, Andreas Weber, Davide Pizzigoni, Maurizio Duranti, Nanda Vigo, Carla Venosta, Gabriele Moscatelli, and Italo Pertichini, who over the years have been called upon to create new products for the company. Gallotti & Radice has grown precisely by handing down all the secrets of crystal working, which have been revealed over the years thanks to the top-notch craftsmen involved in the company’s production line, who have been able to increase, step by step, the level of knowledge of the materials handled. The magazine rack features a “space-like” design typical of those fascinating times; with its basic, geometric style, it is a real piece of furniture that gives a unique atmosphere in the home. The design of the 1970s gives way to freedom and innovation and explodes into a variety of styles and movements that explain its richness, making room for roundness, freedom of shape and movement, lightness, and simplicity. This vintage, original magazine rack is a unique piece to be carefully exhibited and told, it is not a simple magazine rack, it is much more. Measures width cm.43, depth cm.39, height cm.28. The magazine rack is in excellent condition. On one corner of the crystal, there is a very slight imperfection (see photo).
