Colorful Space is an original artwork realized by Henry Goetz in the 1980s. Colore etching on paper. The print is hand-signed in pencil on the lower right. Numbered on the lower left. Edition 2/50. Good conditions. This colored artwork represents an abstract composition: the colorful shapes are contrasted by a black background. Henry Goetz (New York, 1909 August, 1989) was a French American painter and engraver; he was famous because he invented a new printing technique: the Carborundum Mezzotint a printing process that creates the image by adding light passages to a dark field. Goetz created many abstract prints using this method. Other artists such as Antoni Clav, Antoni Tpies, and in particular, Joan Mir, employed carborundum printing in their works. In 1930, he moved to Paris, where he started studying at the Acadmie Colarossi and the Montparnasse art studios and he began painting portraits and nude figures. In 1937, he held his first exhibition at the Galerie Bonaparte with his wife Christine Boumeester, a Dutch painter from Java that Goetz met at the Acadmie de la Grande Chaumire.
