Unknown (19th century): Back view of the painter Arthur Bendrat, 20th century, WatercolorTechnique: White heightened Watercolor on PaperInscription: Inscribed in pencil below the image by another hand: “Donadini pupil/Portrait of the painter Bendrath/*Danzig/+Geisteskrank”.Date: 20th centuryDescription: The depiction shows us only the upper part of the back in a brown-checked jacket and the back of the head with somewhat dishevelled, light brown, short-cropped hair of the Impressionist painter Arthur Bendrat, who died at the age of 42 in the spring of 1914 in the “sanatorium for the mentally and neurotically ill” Lindenhof in Neucoswig.
