Description
Plate II from “Suite Papillon” is an original con Original Lithograph and Heliogravure realized by the Catalan Surrealist artist Salvador Dal in 1969. Numbered in pencil on the lower left. Edition 1077/1700. Dry stamp signature on the lower right. Good conditions. The artwork is from the series Suite Papillon, printed by ateliers Matthieu et Draeger and published by J. Schneider in 1969. The suite was commissioned by SNCF to promote it. Ref. Michler-Lopsinger, Catalogue Raisonn pf Prints and Wood Engravings 1956-1980, p.129 no.1226. The print represents an abstract composition typical of Dal’s artworks: a surreal landscape on which there are references to his works (butterflies, human faces, suspended constructions, etc.).
