Description
Column altarpiece fragment, carved and gilded wood, 19th century. XIX Castilla y Len
Extraordinary column carved in wood and gilded with fine gold, made in the 19th century, probably Castilla y Len. This type of columns is common in religious art, especially in the altarpieces of churches and chapels, where they are used to divide and structure spaces, as well as to frame images, helping to focus the observer’s attention on the central figures. Added to all this is its great decorative sense. The lines carved into the wood create a texture that adds depth and movement to the column, evoking the idea of ascension and spiritual elevation.
It is a decorative object in itself, full of artistic and historical value. It can be used in multiple ways in home decoration, and is also perfect as a collector’s item. In addition, you can make a base with it.
