Description
1920s early original three door Forge de Strasbourg locker. The Forge de Strasbourg was founded in the South East of France in 1919. They were one of the global pioneers of the manufacture of sheet metal furniture principally for industry, and undoubtedly recognisable by the signature rippled steel finish. In 1926 the company launched the brand Strafor and moved into atelier furniture with more sophisticated and branded pieces. The early pre Strafor pieces are recognisable by their utilitarian design and absence of branding. This locker is an exceptional three door example in superb original condition with its early sloped roof from the early 1920s. The locker has the utilitarian flat riveted doors with the signature rippled back, sides and internal divides. The locker also retains its early SNCF (French Rail) stock keeping label on the reverse and some internal hooks. The locker was original battleship grey and has been overpainted at some stage. We love it just the way it is. Internal locker dimensions top: 34cm high, 29cm wide, 27cm long. Base 142cm high, 29cm wide, 27cm long.
