Description
Brown patina bronze signed on the terrace by French sculptor Georges Omerth.A student of the sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse, Omerth exhibited regularly at the Socit des Artistes Franais between 1895 and 1925.
This print shows a shepherd with a long beard, his face marked by the passage of time. The old man in the hat, clad in clogs, tries to keep warm under his long cape in the wind. The dog at his side stares benevolently at his master, as if sharing the pain of this old shepherd surrounded by solitude.
This singular work is a tribute to the shepherds of yesteryear.
