Description
A wonderfully executed mid century modernist abstract composition in oil, painted onto canvas. In this atmospheric composition, the artist has applied the paint thickly, creating lots of areas of impasto (where the paint stands proud from the surface) and variation in texture. Depicting what appears to be a rural landscape, the lower section of the painting has richer, earthier colours in broad sweeping brushstrokes . This juxtaposes against the lighter top half of the painting which has been painted in a mixture of white and lilac, with hints of blue underneath, alluding to the depth of layers within the painting. There is a really earthy quality to the piece, and its abstract subject makes it an easy fit into most interiors. The painting is housed in a silver leaf wood frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition. Size: 40 x 40 cm (including frame)
