Description
Lithographic print / Black ink printed on 240gr JOHANOT paper. Can a shark fall in love with its image in a reflection? A very explicit title removes any ambiguity about the subject of this drawing, which mixes the codes of the tattoo and Greek mythology. References used for this print: Drawing of the shark, freely interpreted from an anonymous tattoo. Title in gothic letters in the style of the 1930s. Signature : Monogram ” PJ “, stamped in black ink Date, title and copy number, written in this order, in pencil by the artist, at the bottom of the sheet. The proofs were made by the artist, in the SFUMATO workshop, in Montreuil, between the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022. The “Minotaur-Manga” series is a variation drawn in pencil of a previous painting: “Picasso Pop Portrait”. We find the brutality symbolized by the minotaur, opposed by manga characters. The reference to Picasso is omnipresent in this series. This drawing is a self-interpretation in pencil and Indian ink of an old collage by the artist. Made up of newspaper photos, the original model is dated May 2013. The quote from K. HARRING has been added for the litho. References used for this print: Shark inspired by an aquarium by Damien HIRST. Fragment of a female nude after Man RAY. Angelot and heart after : Keith HARRING, Technical description* : Lithographic print printed at 6 copies Dimensions : 56 x 38 cm Signed by the artist After studying at the Ecole Boulle and then at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Dcoratifs in Paris, I discovered interior architecture in the decoration office of the LOUVRE CONCORDE hotel group. I loved this work in the big hotels. About ten years later I joined the engineering office of the PARIS AIRPORTS, then directed by the famous Paul ANDREU; this period of great achievements at Roissy will remain the most exciting of my career as an interior architect. At the same time, in the early 2000’s, I started a personal work as a painter. This activity became more intense under the impulse of artists’ meetings in the painting workshops of the City of Paris that I frequented at the time. Since then, painting has become an unavoidable passion.
