Description
This is a large hand blown emerald green opaque glass vase with applied open work copper overlay decoration, which is likely to have been manufactured in Austria around the 1900s. Its stunning linear surface pattern reveals the artistic influence of the Art Nouveau Jugendstil style. The vase has a slender cylindrical form that tapers towards the mouth of the vessel and a symmetrical design in copper overlay to three sides, jewelled with turquoise glass cabochons, and a pierced flower swag pattern running around the base.
The vase is beautifully patinated, and has not been polished. In very good period condition with no chips or cracks – which is amazing for an antique piece. It is unsigned, but similar in design to art glass pieces by Rindskopf, Loetz, Rozenburg.
