Large Industrial Wall Lights By Thorlux Circa 1950s – Vitreous green enamel – Twist off shades – Takes E27 fitting bulbs – Wires directly into the wall – Produced by Thorlux – Dimensions – Shade 46cm x 46cm x 27cm high ~ Reach from wall to end of shade is approx 93cm ~Tallest point of bracket to bottom of shade is 47cm Thorlux was founded by Frederick William Thorpe in 1936 in Small Heath, Birmingham. The company produced vitreous enamelled shades for lighting factories, workshops, mills and farm buildings during the progressive industrialisation of the 1930s through to the 1950s. During the 1940s the Thorlux factory then in Redditch, Worcestershire spun the nose cones for Spitfire aircraft to assist with the war effort during WW2.
