Description
Stamp of the O. Vautier workshop Dimension of the master key 52.5 x 38 cm A man of great beauty and distinction, a Baudelairean dandy, the son of a very famous painter, Otto Vautier loved women and he loved painting them. He loved Geneva, where he chose to live, and which he illustrated in large allegorical panels, one of which is entitled “the triumph of beauty”, where the woman has the capital role of indicating the way of arts at the City of Calvin. Otto Vautier is a virtuoso of all techniques, from oil to pastels, from pencil to charcoal and watercolor. Master of light, he is above all a painter of intimacy which is played out in the secret space of a room, where the curtains draw light shadows. The diffuse sensuality of his models arouses reverie. Their clothes are painted with quivering touches; white dazzles and is juxtaposed with pink and blue, the painter’s favorite color accord, a sign of his love for 18th century French painting.
