Richard Parkes Bonington (Arnold, 25 October 1802 – London, 23 September 1828) was an English Romantic painter, famous for his landscapes. More important for the creative development of Bonington was the friendship with Eugene Delacroix and Theodore Gricault. His works were enhanced by the Impressionist movement, which broke the schematism of academic rules in favor of greater spontaneity and a greater look at nature. The artist’s works are represented in major British museums (in particular, in Nottingham and London, the Wallace collection) and the Louvre.
