Description
Serbian Musicians is an Original Etching realized by Theodore Valerio in 1855. The artwork is in very good condition, included a white cardboard passpartout (50×34 cm). Hand-signed and dated by the artist on the lower right corner. Titled on the lower margin. Thodore Valerio , born in Herserange on February 18 , 1819 (at the time in Moselle) and died in Vichy onSeptember 14 , 1879 (aged 60) , is a French painter , engraver and lithographer .He stayed in Hungary and the Balkans in 1851 and 1852 and during the Crimean War (1853-1855), he followed the Turkish army of Osman Pasha. He produced numerous watercolors and quasi- ethnographic drawings on the costumes and customs of the populations of the countries he visited. Upon his return to France, he successfully exhibited his work at the Universal Exhibition inParis in 1855.
